From Human Trafficking Victim to Spiritual Entrepreneur Making Multiple 6 Figures

Life can happen so fast— even more than a moving train. Also quite similar to the two sides of a coin. One moment, it’s all good and rosy, and the next moment, you’re trying to remove thorns from your roses.

And it all happens so fast that you may begin to wonder how you got into certain situations…Or say, how such situations even crossed paths with you.

Now, it’s one thing to find yourself in unfortunate situations, and it’s another thing to chalk it up and walk out of such situations like the boss that you are. Do you know what they say about turning lemons into lemonade? Or turning your Ls into lessons? Oh well, let’s leave those metaphors aside and face the reality of it all. It’s not that easy. That’s the cold hard truth.

For Robin Rivera, she had quite a rough childhood and upbringing, with so much ancestral trauma— which made her grow up with a lot of fear. Things started to get sour when she delved into drugs and alcohol at the tender age of 11 years. Not long after, she became suicidal.

A Wild Turn of Events

Life took a different turn when Robin was sent to a boarding school in Mexico. Her mind became stronger, and she became much more street smart. Unfortunately, this didn’t last long because she didn’t have any life skills except survival. “All I had was emotional baggage and trauma that I had began to unlock and look at powerfully,” she claims. However, she got kicked out at 17 and had to start living on her own. This made her dabble into being an escort, doing exotic dancing, drugs, and alcohol— which only led to more trauma.

Things got intense when Robin had a run-in with a human trafficker. “I didn’t know what was going on, but I knew I was very confused and that these were dangerous people,” she explains. Fortunately for her, she was able to run away. She found solace in an ex-boyfriend, who tried to get her back to safety. After some time, Robin decided to go home, but after getting home, she discovered that she was pregnant.

Figuring it All Out

The pregnancy was like a jolt of reality for Robin. It turned everything around, and she realized that she had to prepare herself for this baby she was about to bring into the world.

It was that pregnancy that turned everything around. I wanted to be a good woman for this innocent child, and that gave me the power to do things I thought were nearly impossible,” she recounts. From that moment on, Robin took a grasp of the situation and never looked back. She decided to go to UC Berkeley, where she bagged a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare, and a Master’s degree in consciousness and transformative studies from John F. Kennedy University.

In the bid of being grateful for escaping the clutches of human traffickers, Robin went on to volunteer with the anti-human trafficking community.

The Turning Point

Robin got close to the leaders in the anti-trafficking movement, and gradually, they mentored her on how to speak, present, and value her worth. She also got mentorship from the Chicana Latina Foundation, where she came across healers and traditional medicine. She later came in contact with a shamanic therapist who made her realize that she wasn’t broken, only spiritually gifted.

Robin took these words to heart and dwelled on them. She did some research on shamanic healing, and that was it. She found her calling in the shamanic path and went on to create Robin Rivera Global, where she heals people using shamanic and holistic techniques. She became so good at it, and later diversified into helping other spiritual coaches reach their goals.

For me, it’s all about liberation. The more I liberate others to discover and awaken, that they’re actually not broken, that they are only so gifted. I want to liberate as many people as I can to greater and greater states of love and freedom. And this really comes from a place in me that is driven by freedom and liberation,” Robin emphasizes.

Be the Change You Want to See

You don’t need to be superman before you inject the ‘super’ into your life. Even when life takes on a stormy wave, always remember that it doesn’t rain 365 days a year. The sun rises on some days too. You’ve just got to be optimistic enough to see it.

A lot of people have had their rainy days as well, and this spurred a large percentage of them into discovering their inner calling and career path. It’s not rocket science though, you’ve got to be willing to navigate the process and all that comes with it.

Take that bold step today, and put it at the back of your mind that you’ve got the power to break free from whatever situation you’ve found yourself in. Even the word impossible says “I’m possible.” Know that, and believe it.
