In early July 2021, Seth Bader, founder and CEO of Bader Scott Injury Lawyers, sat to interview his partner, Luis Scott, for the first episode of his new podcast, “8 Figure Attorney Podcast.”
Bader decided to dabble in podcasting to uncover the secrets to success in the world of law. In each episode, Bader interviews different inspirational law entrepreneurs about their paths to success.
For the first episode, Bader invited his longtime friend and business partner, Luis Scott Jr.
Bader could not have chosen a better guest. In 2018, Scott’s incorporation into Bader’s law firm was critical to expand the firm from a seven-figure to an eight-figure business in less than a year.
Today, Bader and Scott have multiplied the value of their firm. The two lawyers also co-founded 8 Figure Firm Consulting, a consulting company of attorneys helping attorneys transform their law firms into law businesses.
“He is an eight-figure attorney; he is an eight-figure business owner; he is an eight-figure consultant,” said Bader, introducing Scott.
“It seems that I have to add a lot of value,” replied Scott jokingly.
During this episode, Bader and Scott examined how Scott’s incorporation drove Bader Scott Injury lawyers to scale from $5 million to an over $30 million valuation in two years.
Audiences could perceive the thrill in the voices of Bader and Scott. The interview felt like a conversation between two old friends, recalling their journey together.
In 2016, Bader met Scott at a networking event in the College Football Hall of Fame.
“You came fashionably late, right after the networking part,” recalled Scott. “And, you sat down at an empty chair at my table and introduced yourself to me.”
Bader and Scott connected almost instantly. Whether that encounter was the product of predestination or luck is irrelevant. What is clear is that that moment marked a turning point in the career of both lawyers.
By 2018, Bader and Scott had built a close friendship and mutual admiration. That same year, Bader asked Scott to join his firm, then called Bader Lawfirm, and become his partner.
Scott came to the firm with a fresh vision. At the time, Bader Lawfirm was stagnant. Bader was overloading himself, working extra hours, and personally tackling most tasks at the office. Yet, his efforts did not translate into the exponential growth he expected.
“Many lawyers don’t realize that delegation is the key to scaling,” commented Scott. “What I saw coming in was someone who was subsidizing everyone else. It was a very successful business, but it was an unscalable business.”
Scott advised Bader to systematize the firm’s operations. Bader hired more staff and delegated the administrative side of the business. Meanwhile, he and Scott could focus on top-line revenue and client generation.
Such restructuring proved to be a game-changer. Bader Scott Injury lawyers doubled its operations in the first months. With the new staff, Bader could clarify his vision and concentrate on scaling his company.
Soon, Bader and Scott surpassed the previously-so-evasive eight-figure benchmark. A year after Scott’s incorporation, Bader Scott Injury Lawyers grew more than in the previous ten years.
Nowadays, the valuation of Bader Scott Injury Lawyers has increased by over 700%. Bader and Scott expanded their work team from 25 to 150 employees, and their firm seems to not cease growing.
In each new episode of the 8 Figure Attorney Podcast, Bader interviews a different leader in law from around the country. Each guest and their unique stories help viewers acquire new perspectives on the keys to success in the world of law.
