It’s a classic entrepreneur’s tale. Jackie Meyer, known as the Modern Tax Planner and Concierge CPA, spent years searching for a tool that would automate many of the back-of-house and administrative tasks that make up much of an accountant’s day. “I love problem-solving. I like to dive into possible solutions without considering how others have approached the same problem. I think that can negatively influence original thinking,” said Meyer.

As someone that never enjoyed strong mentorship in her career, it’s gratifying that she can now mentor and inspire others and provide the thing she most wanted when she started her own accounting career. “I never really connected with any of my bosses. Now, I want to help others in the field who feel as stuck in a rut as I did,” she explained.
This innovator’s mindset guides Meyer as she continues to push the boundaries of her industry and what most people consider to be accounting. Through TaxPlanIQ and all that she does, the founder aims to add value to each client’s overall business and each employee’s workload and life.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is among the next frontiers of the industry that excite her. A great technology lover, Meyer prides herself on keeping up with the latest breakthroughs and trends. “I believe that AI will take over compliance soon. I already see it happening. But, while that lessens workloads for firms, it also means they need to bring something else to the table to stand out from the pack,” she explained.
Her unique take on the industry has made her something of a personality in the tax planning space, especially among female tax professionals. She encourages her sisters in tax planning to take leadership roles and to lead with love, basing much of her advice on the Meraki method of leadership, which advocates for putting heart and soul into all that you do.
