Donald Trump gives Wings to Baseless Conspiracy about Jeffrey Epstein’s death

President Donald Trump has been into the news for retweeting a popular conspiracy theory related to the financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s death by suicide. He recently claimed that Epstein didn’t commit suicide in federal custody but was killed by Bill Clinton. The unsubstantiated claims of Donald Trump are in sharp contrast to the statement of his own officials.

Jeffrey, who was accused of sex crimes against many young girls was found dead in his jail cell in Manhattan a few days back on Saturday while he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. And following this, the Bureau of Prisons, a law enforcement arm of Trump’s own Department of Justice, released the statement that he committed suicide.

Instead of confirming his DOJ’s statement, Donald Trump pushed conspiracy theory connecting Jeffrey Epstein’s death. He countered his administration’s statement by retweeting a video by a conservative personality pushing the conspiracy theory that Bill Clinton (who was once an associate of Epstein) had killed Epstein.

The tweet of the conservative personality captioned “we know who did this” and made use of the hashtags #ClintonBodyCount and #ClintonCrimeFamily to involve both Bill as well as Hillary Clinton in the conspiracy theory. In addition to the unsubstantiated claims regarding Bill Clinton’s role in Epstein’s death, the video also highlights certain misinformation claiming Epstein died while undergoing monitoring on suicide watch. However, officials have refused to support this statement and said that he was not on suicide watch at the time of his death.

In the past, Trump had also involved in some conspiracy theories related to the involvement of his political enemies. Trump released a statement in 2017 blaming the then-President Barack Obama for wiretapping Trump Tower. And he even made efforts to promote his claim that Obama took birth in Kenya.
