Marc Lore, Walmart’s US commerce head has announced to leave Walmart after his successful five-year contract with the company. Under his leadership, Walmart has expanded its operations in both the brick and mortar business world and the digital world.
Marc Lore joined Walmart in 2016 at the time when the retailer sealed a $3.3 billion acquisition deal for the start-up, Jet.com, which was co-founded by him. He was made in-charge of Walmart’s US operations and he has done full justice to his role in his tenure.
Walmart has announced that Marc Lore will leave the company at the end of this month. And he will complete his five-year contractual commitment in an advisory role till September. After Marc Lore, the company will not search for his successor but instead assign his roles to another top executive, John Furner.
Doug McMillon, Walmart’s chief executive, has said that Mr. Lore is leaving the company in a very good position. It is due to Marc’s efforts that Walmart is bringing together its online and brick & mortar businesses.
He has expressed that Marc has provided a platform to ensure a seamless experience for customers. It is due to his structural changes that the company has managed to accelerate in the world of online shopping.
Additionally, it has ensured same-day delivery and expansion of its selection of items for customers. Under Marc Lore’s leadership, Walmart’s US branch has also excelled in the online grocery world. Moreover, it witnessed immense growth during the pandemic period to touch new highs.
