All the Taxes Owed Must be Paid by New Extended Date, July 15

The Treasury Department has extended the individual income tax returns filing date for 2019, to July 15 due to pandemic. The officials have pushed other deadlines to July too that includes the June 15 due date for second quarter tax estimates.

As shared by filemytaxesonline.org, the new tax day was given to help taxpayers contend with disruption related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The accountants and tax preparers are gathering documents and preparing returns for the new tax season. The time will be needed as there is more work and less hands at work due to the coronavirus lockdown and quarantine period.

The offices were closed. The resources at hand are limited. So the work that was to be done in March and April is being done now. Brian Streig, CPA and tax director at Calhoun Thomson and Matza in Austin expressed the situation and said the tax returns should be done by July 15, the extended deadline.

The tax filing individuals can request for an extension if they are not sure that they will be able to complete and submit their paperwork by July i.e. next month. This has even impacted the tax season 2021 start date further. The request to submit returns can go until October 15 but the tax owed needs to be paid by July 15th. Americans living abroad had to file the tax return by June 15th but even that has been extended for July. They can file and pay the taxes due by the next month.
