Piergiulio Ruhe explains why he took up boxing over his family business

Piergiulio Ruhe is one of the emerging names in Germany’s boxing scene. At just 24, he has proved why he is the best name among the youth. The young man chose the field despite having his own family business. He made his professional debut in boxing on May 26, 2018. Out of 8 fights, he has won 7 fights. The current reigning German Champion in welterweight has won 5 fights through K.O and his aim is to bring Germany on an international level of boxing. Popularly known as Toto, he has German and Italian nationality.

Ruhe has one dream to have a fight at the world championship in Las Vegas, USA. With a secondary school certificate, he has completed vocational training in construction mechanics. His family business, ‘WARU – Wertvolles Aus Aluminium’ is well-established; but he chose a completely different path. “It would have made me lethargic. I don’t like things which come easier in life. Boxing is a challenging sport and it takes years of preparation to become a professional boxer. Spoonfeeding is what I was not made for and boxing has indeed made me stronger”, shares Piergiulio talking about not joining his family business.

Moreover, the boxer has a life motto which he is following since years.“Your life has no remote control. Get up and control your life by yourself.” He believes that it is all about control over things. “Never make a habit which becomes an addiction”, he added. He further even stated that he got into boxing not because of his hobby but because of his passion for the sport. While speaking about his successful run as a boxer, he revealed that he follows 5 secrets in his life including discipline, willpower, self-confidence, implementation capability and dedication.

The powerful boxer before getting into boxing was into soccer and tennis at SC Rinteln. At the age of 16, he was introduced to the sport by his Spanish friend Mikael Mkrtchyan who is also a professional fighter since 2013. Ruhe has trained for almost 6 years before getting into the professional fight. He follows a strict workout schedule and diet regimen on a daily basis to meet his fitness goals. He is currently preparing for the Intercontinental title fight against the WBC Youth Champion Maono Ally from Tanzania. Their match was scheduled to happen earlier but due to coronavirus crisis, it has got postponed to September or October this year.
