Arizona dentist Dr. John Badolato has crafted the smile of champions since 2004.
Badolato and his dental practice, Studio B Smiles (@studiobsmiles) are the team dentist for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB), and Phoenix Mercury (WNBA)..
Since opening the doors to his first practice in 2004, Badolato has found success fixing the smiles of Arizona’s biggest sports stars.
“I thought it would be amazing if I could ever put myself in a position where I could take care of local athletes and their families,” says Badolato.
A devoted sports fan himself, Badolato saw the potential of working with the presence of a highly marketable organization like major sports teams.
Badolato now owns and operates two practices. His first running in Scottsdale, Arizona and the second in Downtown Phoenix, right between the Talking Stick Arena and Chase Field where the Suns and Diamondbacks play respectfully.
Plans for a third practice have begun, as Badolato has secured space in Arcadia in affiliation with the Phoenix Suns new state-of-the-art training facility.
Studio B Smiles offers patients a wide variety of quality services such as dental cleanings, fillings, crowns, Invisalign, whitening, veneers and more.
While he has plans to expand Studio B Smiles to new states, Badolato’s main priority is his current patients.
“Our motto is ‘the best interest of the patient is the only interest we will consider,’” he says.
Hailing from St. Louis, Badolato connected to sports early, but his journey to becoming the official dentist of the Phoenix Suns took tremendous time and trust between the organization and himself.
“It started off as a small marketing partnership,” says Badolato.
At the time, he was taking care of multiple MLB players, clients he gained through a positive reputation and word of mouth. As his presence in the sports community grew, so did his relationships with members of the Suns training staff and the amount of referrals within the baseball community.
Badolato became the official team dentist of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Suns followed suit.
“I think it says a lot about me as a dentist and my team at Studio B Smiles that organizations trust us to take care of their players and employees,” says Badolato. “I don’t think that fact is lost on the public either.”
According to a study by Dr. Hsinkuang Chi of Nanhua University in Taiwan, society typically values the business of celebrities the same way they value the opinion of their close family or friends. By having celebrity endorsements from professional basketball and baseball players, Badolato gains new clients regularly.
“People want to go where the pros go,” says Badolato.
While HIPPA prevents him from disclosing the identities of his high profile patients, Dr. Badolato has worked with some of sport’s best.
“I am proud to have had the opportunity to help craft the smiles of championship MVPs, world champions, and ‘G.O.A.Ts’ from three of the five major sports in North America,” says Badolato.
While working alongside the Suns, Diamondbacks and the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, Dr. Badolato has also had the opportunity to represent Studio B Smiles as the official cosmetic dentist for six seasons of ABC’s hit show, Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition.
