How to get a tranquil vibe in your office

With people spending more time than ever in offices, it’s so important that the environment you’re in is peaceful and relaxing, especially if your role is high stress by nature. Here are some ways to create a tranquil vibe in your office.

Declutter

Not only do stacks of paper look messy and unorganised, but they’re likely to make you feel more stressed out. You don’t have to throw things away but it’s a good idea to organise them into folders and keep them hidden from view. Ideally your desk should only have items on it that you use every day. Take the time to declutter and you’ll soon find that you feel a lot calmer.

Ensure your seating is comfortable

If you have to be seated at your desk for eight or more hours a day, you want to make sure you’re comfortable. Take a look at your nearest office supply store and trial a range of chairs until you find the right one for you. Remember that it’s important to be comfortable and it’s okay if you spend more than you originally wanted to. See this as an investment.

Have a personal fan

Offices that have recirculated air or no aircon at all are often stuffy and musty. The best way to combat this is to have your own fan with which you can circulate the air and give yourself a little refresher.

It can be hard to find a temperature to suit everyone in an office too, so a fan will ensure you have a bit more control over your little area, too.

Lighting

Having lighting that is either too bright or too dull can have a huge impact on your productivity and overall wellbeing. Adding more light can be easily achieved by adding a desk lamp or perhaps some fairy lights which double as cute décor.

It can be a bit harder to manage lights that are too bright though. A suggestion would be to stick as close to the window and natural light as possible to prevent headaches brought on by artificial light.

Take control of the noise

If you want a tranquil vibe you’re going to have to take some steps to control the level and type of noise around you. Lots of people prefer music to silence or white noise, but equally something like a desktop water fountain is very relaxing for others. You’ll probably have to experiment and find out what helps to relax you without distracting you. If all else fails, invest in some high-quality earphones to block out the noise of others.

Add some personality

The more at home you feel in your office, the better the vibe will be. Items like family photos and calendars are perfect for giving a calming vibe without taking up too much space. Similarly, funky mouse pads and stationary add a bit of personality and create a comforting feeling without looking too cluttered.

You might even want to experiment with switching up your table legs to make your space ultra-unique and tranquil.

And there you have it – just a few simple ideas for transforming your office space into a tranquil, productive environment.
