Business Coach Dan Henry Shares Advice on How to Make 7 Figures by Working Smart, Not Hard

“Work smarter, not harder,” is a phrase that many of us have heard throughout our life. It inspires us to dream of that work life balance we all so desperately desire, but the problem is no one tells us exactly how to cultivate those healthy patterns. Fortunately, Dan Henry, business coach, shares his advice on how to make seven figures by working smart, not hard.

Henry knows from experience how to start, grow and innovate a prosperous business from scratch. At 16-years-old, Henry began working as a pizza delivery boy but dreamed of something more. His first step to following his dreams came through a Craigslist ad seeking a salesman. Henry landed the job, growing his income from a mere $500 a week to $50,000 a year.

However, the younger Henry continued to dream of something more and in his spare time, read as much as he could about online marketing. He branched out on his own, starting an SEO agency, but when Google changed its algorithm, it became impossible to make a living. He turned to a more traditional approach of revitalizing two local bars through Facebook ads then flipping them for a profit.

It was not an easy road for Henry, who at one point turned to selling water bottles on the side of the road to pay for electricity when his wife suggested he share his expertise in social media marketing. It became the key to his success and in one month, he had landed seven clients and made more than $10,000 in revenue.

With money in his pocket and a work life balance he had not had before, he decided to share his knowledge with others and created a course that earned more than one million dollars in just five short months with only a laptop and one employee.

How exactly did a pizza boy who dropped out of college grow such a successful business so quickly? He found what he was good at and shared that expertise with others.

The best advice Henry says he ever got was, “Keep it simple, don’t over complicate it.” He has taken that suggestion and found a way to work smart, not hard.

“Nothing hurts more than when you have big ideas you are trying to execute, you think you’re going to get all this done, and the end of the day comes and you didn’t get any of the stuff done,” Henry said.

The solution? Keeping it simple and focusing on one goal at a time. For Henry, that means deleting the majority of his apps on his phone, getting in the right amount of sleep and exercise and choosing to concentrate on one priority at a time.

“Doing less is literally a concept that changed my life. Steve Jobs said that, ‘Focus is not about choosing what to do with your time, it is about choosing what not to do.’ So, what I like to do is look at my goals and really think about what I need to do to accomplish this,” Henry said.

Henry explains focusing on one business, or one goal, at a time keeps us from running ragged and not getting anything accomplished, which does nothing but cause us to feel frustrated, overwhelmed and unproductive.

In his book, Henry discusses his circle of focus, a systematic way to do less and get more output. By planning for each day, we can fully give ourselves to each goal, leaving us knowing we have become both accomplished and productive. When we feel satisfied with our own performance, whether at work or as a business owner, we find our happiness.

Henry urges others to stop the need to multitask. He fully believes it is more important to give 100 percent of ourselves to one task instead of only 10 or 15 percent of ourselves to multiple tasks. By placing his priority on a single dream, he has grown from a pizza boy working long hours for little pay to an entrepreneur bringing in seven figures, and by following his expert advice, you too can make your dreams come true.
