Interview with Mina Habchi, founder of Lifestyle Magazine NIOOD

Fashion and Lifestyle influencer Mina Habchi launched niood magazine over the Summer 21 and the website has already seen a fast-growing audience. niood is an online magazine with topics including arts, astrology, culture, fashion, lifestyle, wellness, and travels.

How did you come up with the idea of niood magazine?

I was looking for a global magazine I could rely on. I wanted to find a magazine that could not only talk about fashion but also about travelling, arts, lifestyle, astrology, well-being etc. I wanted a magazine that favored quality over quantity. A kind of magazine that would act as a guide on various aspects, such as arts, sustainable hotels, sustainable brands, emerging brands etc. As this was clearly missing, I’ve decided to launch niood – which aims to provide all of that.

Would you say the aim of niood is to favor quality over quantity?

It’s one of the main objectives, yes. I want to tell readers of niood that it’s more ethical and also sustainable to consume and travel less but better. We’ve come to a world of mass-consumption – we consume much more also because we are kind-of-forced to consume more because of TV, internet and social media, and I feel like magazines were following this trend too, putting aside articles about quality items and places. At niood – we don’t want to follow this path but to follow the quality path because less is more. We list sustainable brands, emerging brands, sustainable hotels and places, among other topics.

niood has also partnered with the Sustainable hotels booking platform ETIC Hotels to provide a “Green Score ‘ to rate hotels’ sustainability and eco-friendliness depending on multiple criteria and standard that you can find on their websites.

niood is also acting as an ultimate guide to arts, fashion, wellness and sustainable travel destinations.

Is Sustainability the key aspect of niood then?

Yes, sustainability is the key aspect of niood. We focus primarily on sustainable destinations and hotels and favors emerging sustainable brands to bring them more visibility. Fashion and Travels need to be drastically improved as they’re major polluting industries that need to move to a more ethical and sustainable model. Hotels and fashion brands need to be more careful about their supply chains and become more ethical.” We want to combat fast-fashion and all other fast-consumption industries.

You’ve mentioned about bringing more visibility to small-to-medium brands? Is it another key aspect of niood?

Yes, I want to give a chance to every designer out there to get more visibility as there are too many people with great and brilliant ideas that are really struggling to be present in their respective industries and therefore don’t last long eventually. Niood wants to favor these talented artists, designers and creatives to feel more understood and appreciated via an online presence and visibility.
