This Robot from Russia is Clone of Real People

Promobot, a Russian start-up is selling autonomous robots. These autonomous robots are different from the ones available in the market as the buyers can choose to make these robots look like any person on Earth including themselves.

Aleksei Iuzhakov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Promobot has said that everyone can now order a robot with any appearance for any professional or personal use. With this the company aims at opening a huge market in service, education and entertainment. The customers can order replicas of any famous person too and can then employ the robot to do professional tasks. He asked, “Imagine a replica of Michael Jordan selling basketball uniforms and William Shakespeare reading his own texts in a museum?”

The unique robot by the company is called Robo-C. It has a neck and torso that each have three degrees of freedom of movement. But the robot is right now not programmed to walk though it has 18 moving parts that allows it to make 600 micro-expressions. The robot has artificial intelligence that contains 100,000 speech modules. The android is a completely anthropomorphic machine according to Promobot which has only 8 hours of battery life.

The company has stated in the press release that Promobot believes that a robot like this is capable of removing the barrier in human-machine interaction. It further states that the robot can replace a number of employees in crowded places like the post offices, banks, and municipal institutions.
