Trump is 'absolutely, deadly serious' on new tariffs on Mexican imports

On Sunday, A top White House representative said that Donald Trump is “deadly serious” about slapping tariffs on imports from Mexico. Equally, he accepted there are no concrete benchmarks being set to charge whether the United States collaborator was stemming the flow of migrants adequate for satisfying the government.

Mick Mulvaney, who is the acting White House chief of staff said, “We purposely left the declaration kind of ad hoc, so there is not exact percent, no exact target, but things have to get improved.” He further added, “They have to get noticeably better as well as quickly”.  According to him, idea is to work with the government of Mexico “to make certain that things did get improved.”

As per the Trump, Mexico has taken a benefit of the U.S. for many years but that abuse will end when he slaps tariffs on imports from Mexico imports. He tweeted that “America has had enough.”

Last week the President said that he will impose a tariff of 5% on Mexican goods on June 10 for making pressure upon the government of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to stop Central American migrants from crossing the United States border.

To find a solution the Mexican officials will meet with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo later this week. On Sunday, Mulvaney said that Mexico might take several steps for decreasing the record numbers of immigrants at the border.

He gave a suggestion that the government of Mexico can seal its southern border with Guatemala, to crack down the domestic terrorist organizations and hence make Mexico a secure place for migrants who are seeking to apply for asylum.“There are precise things that the Mexicans can do to solve this problem”, said Mulvaney.

Business groups and Economists are sounding alarms over the tariffs, warning they will increase the prices of various Mexican goods Americans have come to rely on and impair deal.

Mulvaney also said, “American customers will not pay the load of these tariffs.” He downplayed those fears, saying he doubts commerce will pass on the prices to shoppers. In addition to this, he also gave a suggestion that the tariffs were an immigration matter, different from the business deal the U.S. is trying to negotiate with Canada and Mexico.
