One of the key aspects of being a young entrepreneur is knowing who you should follow and recognizing potential mentors and inspirations early on in your journey. The idea behind finding a mentor being that they’ll offer you key ideas, and inspire values that will, in turn, power your road to success and financial stability.
Understanding all this, established entrepreneur and multi-million-dollar business owner, Justin J. Allen is opening his doors to young black men looking to start their own business. He’s focusing on mentoring young entrepreneurs, and taking young creatives under his wing, in the firm conviction that they are our future.
Who is Justin J. Allen?
You might know Justin J. Allen as the head of his multi-million-dollar executive security service (ESS) company with his partner. Or you might know him as the driving force behind DA Method Sports Agency (a sports agency representing athletes), or DA Method Apparel (sister-company focusing on providing fitness apparel to athletes) with his partners.
Or maybe you know him from his most recent enterprise, Premier Lounge, an exclusive bar that has recently opened in Washington DC. It’s a bar that’s set to cater to local creatives, where Allen plans to host “live performances, spoken word, poetry, comedy, and hair shows with the barbershop (Premier Cutz) upstairs” (which has yet to launch).
He’s an uber-active entrepreneur, with a heavy focus on giving back to the community. At present, Allen has sponsored and participated with his various businesses in back-to-school drives, food drives, as well as donating sports apparel, and offering free workout plans.
So, what’s his business with young entrepreneurs?
Now, one of Allen’s many focuses is on supporting young entrepreneurs, in particular young black men looking to start their very own business. He’s working hard on inspiring the values – “honor, pride, respect, and loyalty” – which helped him succeed into these young entrepreneurs, looking to make it out there.
Upon graduation, Allen was faced with two options: joining the Army or entering security. “I saw how my mom struggled raising 2 sons while my dad was in the Navy and I did not want that life for my future wife or future kids,” he says, on how he came to work in security services.
And that’s precisely what sets Allen apart, as a great role model for young entrepreneurs, the fact that he understands what it’s like being at a crossroad. And this vision, this certainty and long-term vision of what he wanted for his family is what helped him succeed. It’s also what he’s now trying to help young entrepreneurs master. Thinking long term, in order to achieve stable success.
He also understands the value of mistakes, from an entrepreneurial perspective.
“I call mistakes learning experiences for example: $100k mistake, can save you millions down the line.”
As someone who’s well-versed in the hustling experience, Justin J. Allen is now focusing on giving back, and helping young people find the sector they want to build a business in and follow their own path.
“Focus on your foundation that you want to specialize in and build on that. Find your lane as a business and be the best at that.”
