As many are, Devin Wills is very familiar with failures, successes, and overcoming obstacles in order to get the desired result. He grew up working hard and learning about what it took to make it in the Roofing industry as his father, Andy Wills, started up his own contracting business called A&W Contracting, Inc back in 1992. This lead to him being introduced into this work as a young child and ultimately led him to be the successful entrepreneur that he’s known to be today.
In 2017, on Labor day a devastating event occurred when his father suffered from a massive heart attack. Wills rushed to perform CPR for as long as it took, but it didn’t work, the damage was done and his father passed away shortly after. Distraught and hurt, Wills fell into a whirlwind of depression that was spiraling out of control. He didn’t know what to do or who to turn to so he relied on the easiest solution: alcohol and drugs.
This wasn’t just a one-time occurrence, this addiction lasted for years. He’d spend all of his days consuming these substances in an attempt to cure the deteriorating feeling that he had felt inside for so long. He was scared and knew that he couldn’t live up to his father’s example so instead, he hid. Everyone around him was worried, but he didn’t care. He was very adamant that he might die within five years because of all he was doing to his body. He just didn’t want to suffer any longer.
Years passed and he became sober. He wasn’t planning on doing it for longer than three months, but since then, 500 days have passed and this is his biggest success. He realized how much time he was wasting with his dangerous lifestyle and knew that it was time for a change. This change came after a conference in Miami where he was greatly inspired by powerful speakers and by others just like him to do better. He knew that if he put his mind to it, he would be able to succeed and run the business in a way that would make his father and employees proud.
He inherited tons of responsibility and is continuing to learn and grow as a person every day. He sets routines for his everyday life to ensure that everything is running smoothly and staying organized. His mindset changed and this was very important as he realized his worth and he is now running A&W Contracting, Inc, known to be one of the top contracting companies in Georgia, as the President with his amazing board of directors to this day.
During his free time, he enjoys numerous healthy activities such as Mountain Biking, Windsurfing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Snowboarding, and his favorite of all time, reading. In 2019 he read 20 books while running his business and dipping his toes into real estate. In 2020 he plans to hit the 40 book mark. Books are a way of staying educated as there is always so much to learn and we can never know enough.
